Ashes Test 31/072009

Plan for the day

Meet at the Victorian Tea Rooms (Great Western Arcade opposite Hollingsworth's tobacco shop) for brekkie - 9.45am.

10.45am ish - lob down to Tone's for BBQ, beer and cricket - current 10 day weather forecast on Google looks set fair!!

7.30pm - back in town at the Old Contemptibles for any stragglers.

Change of plan - since the tickets are £75 and there is no guarantee of getting around 10 all together, we have decided on the 'pub' option for this. Pub to be decided still - any suggestions let us know.

Looking to book for the Friday at the Edgbaston test - 31/07/09, Contact Dave if you're up for it.

NB Tickets go on sale soon.

Review

Cracking day had by all. Phil, Chap & Ted met as planned for a big brekkie in the VTR - a nice way to start the day. Trev joined us just before Tone kindly did the taxi-run to pick us up and lob to his.

Telly on the patio and sunshine on order coupled with a few beers and early fall of Aussie wickets set us up for the day. BBQ grub at lunchtime and the obligatory game of round the clock darts followed. Dave joined us mid afternoon followed by Simbers who had been to a retirement do. More BBQ grub for tea, washed down with a few more ales. The late rain that curtailed the cricket around 6.00pm did not put a dampener on what was an excellent day.

Dave departed early (something about a church bizarre the following day!!) leaving the chaps & Jo to head to town to meet Steve in the OC's. As the OC's was rammed when we got there so a quick change of plan saw us spending the rest of a pleasant evening supping various ales in the OR. By around 10.30pm everyone was knackered so we all departed for home.
