Meet in the Old Royal around 5.30pm after the Villa v Midlesvilla game
7.30pm - wherever the alcoholic magic carpet takes us!!!!!!
The day started with Simbers and Chap having a couple of pre-match beers in the Old Royal before the game. This practice has sadly diminished in recent years, but the choice of whether to go to the game or stay in the pub was never in doubt since the summer revolution at Villa Park.
The game ended 1 - 1, but Villa should really have won. However, Simbers, Dave and Phil lobbed into town to meet Rog who was already in the Old Royal. We were duly joined by Ian, Steve and Nige to participate in the night's festivities. Plenty of beer was quickly consumed in the OR and we also had a fleeting visit from Rog's sister, Christine before it was time to depart.
Next port of call was the German Market at the top of Colmore Row. Time to catch a bite to eat, roast pork baps and burgers which were washed down with either 'Dark Beer' (German equivalent of Ansells Mild) or German lager. Being slightly earlier this year it was not quite as chilly as per Chap's session of 2005.
Suitably fuelled we made a change from the normal ports of call and headed off down to O'neills on Hurst street. It was not a bad night hear with plenty of ale, mainly Guinness being consumed, as well as Phil going in search of and finding some female company and Steve having his usual 'hair do'. As time went on, Rog who spent most of the night on the chair in a beery/cigary daze departed followed around 11.15 by Ian and Simbers. The rest of the chaps were left to head off for a ruby at Shah's, but as usual the plan went slightly wrong as we lost Steve. However, Dave, Phil, Nige and Chap did make it to enjoy a rather nice curry interspersed by text messages from Phil's new 'beloved'!!!
