Dave's birthday Session - 5th February 2000
The first birthday session of the millennium, kicked off with Chap & Sponge having a three pints of the furry black stuff in the recently revamped Towers Pub.
This again proved a useful requirement as the first half of the Villa vs. Watford game was diabolical. However, God knows what Mr. Gregory put in the half time tea, as the second half performance was well worth it, with Paul Merson scoring two superb goals.
The intrepid Chaps then headed for the City in search of the nights' entertainment.
First stop was Gio's (The Old Grape Vine) where a couple of jugs of ale were consumed - this was interspersed with a burger from Mr. Mac's -(not a patch on the Steak Sandwich usually consumed at the Bacchus Bar). This pace proved to be a bit fast for some people, as the night was to unfold.
At around 7.00pm we tramped up Broad Street to Brannigan's - Dave's idea this (he suggested it would be like a bit of a Sam Weller's reunion, perhaps he was showing his age !!!!!!). Not a bad night in here as several jars of Beamish Red were consumed, and the Chaps hit the dance floor.
At about 12.00am Simbers called it a night - still recovering from his previous nights excesses in Syrup country (Rampant Northampton !!!!).
Sponge by this time was the worst for wear, and when me and Ted were looking to go for a Curry, Sponge had gone AWOL (He latter claimed he was still in Brannigan's somewhere).
After waiting until 12.45am I decided to head home - bloody long walk back to Colmore Row for a taxi, a feat also repeated sometime during the night by Sponge.
We left the birthday boy reliving his youth on the dance floor with Heggy.
