Dave's Birthday Session 7th Feb 2004

Plan for the day

Meet at the Hogs Head around 5.30pm after the match, maybe have a beer before the game for anyone that's up for it.

Review

Simber's and Chap opted for the pre match beer in the Old Royal - Simber's arrived late as he had forgotten his season ticket and missed the train, but this was soon rectified by a couple of jars of IPA. Time for the match so we decided to catch the bus, however due to an earlier accident no number 7 buses were about so we had to go to plan B the taxi. Here, the day's second disaster occurred - Chap split his kegs whilst alighting the afore mentioned taxi (fat bastard!!!) and had to make a detour home after the match. The game finished 2 - 0 to the Villa, a comfortable victory and things looking much better than around November time.

The Chaps then assembled up town in the Hogshead after the game, Dave, Phil, Simbers, Tone, Heggy and Chap (via the detour) were quickly joined by Bondbez and Nige for the usual large quantities of ale. Various topics were discussed (one was what music we needed at Simber's wedding do - a link is on the main site page) and Tone raving about his new motor and the watch with the 'bottle top' glass in it !!!!. We planned on going to Reflex at which point Steve mentioned he'd been kicked out last time for head banging so a disguise (Simber's G hat!!) was in order.

Time for the Reflex for some 80's nostalgia - and also the walk up there with Tweedle-dum & Tweedle-dee. Here the Chaps set about consuming more beer and reliving our glory days of the 80's. There was a slight problem with the extra cold Guinness, which from one tap was extra warm but this was soon rectified. Lots of mirth & merriment unfolded and we were also joined by Aimee, Maxine, Jane and Aimee's friend. A surprise visitor was Trevor who was taking a keen interest in the fly in Maxine's drink, ho ho!!

By 10.45 pm the pace had got too hot for some, Tone, Rog & Simber's had sidled off home leaving the rest to disperse to pastures new. We lost Phil & Heggy (?), so the remaining chaps (Dave, Nige, Steve and Chap) lobbed in a taxi to the Adam & Eve. En route Chap had a once in a lifetime interview with Benny from Crossroads!!!

The A & E had a decent band on & the beer again was flowing, however we did cop for the A & E nuttter who insisted that Steve always looked at her chest (now he wouldn't do that would he??). More beer flowed until around 12.30am when it was decided to go to Sharma's for the usual sustenance. By the end of the evening - Dave had well and truly enjoyed himself, hope he woke up in the taxi okay and did not end up somewhere obscure!! (see the stop press news at the bottom)
