Time to revert to the Chap's home of footy for this one - at Simber's house, meet between 11.45am and 12.00pm outside Snow Hill station. Catch the train to Simber's and lob down to the Railway for a couple of beers & a bite to eat before returning to Simber's for the footy. Head back into town after the footy.
Click hear if your in for the footy so we know who to wait for at Snow Hill
6.00pm - 7.30pm Old Royal - for those who can't make the footy.
7.30pm - wherever the Beer Scooter takes us !!!!!!
Four of the Chaps, Phil, Rog, Ted & Chap duly met up at Snow Hill station just in time for the 11.55am train to Dorridge, or so we thought!!, as this was to be a day of fun and games with Central Trains. We got to the platform to find the 11.50am train to somewhere else was still there without a driver and soon became the train to nowhere as it was cancelled. A driver mysteriously appeared to remove the offending train from the platform to allow the 11.55am in. We all got aboard and waited for departure, however 10 minutes later we all got off as we to had no driver!! and were forced to do a quick runner across to platform 2 to get the already 10 minutes late 12.18 train!!. Finally we got to Simber's around half an hour later than we would have, desperate for some liquid refreshment.
The Railway (Simber's local) provided good beer & grub and we were joined by Tone & Dave for the festivities. A pint or half of Old Rosie scrumpy cider (7.4%) was consumed (see what you missed Mr Jellywise!!) just for good measure before leaving to head back to Simber's for the footy.
The match provided fair entertainment with the Chaps taking the piss out of John 'Motty' Motson & Graeme Le Sucks (or should that be Le Saux) as a means to liven up the afternoons proceedings whilst consuming a few more tinnies purchased earlier. Just as an aside England won the game comfortably 2 - 0!!!. Around 5.15pm it was time to go for the train back to Brum to meet Steve in the Old Royal - however, the train misery struck again with our planned one being cancelled and the next one not arriving for 20minutes. The Chaps were forced under some duress to go the Forest for a swift beer whilst waiting - including trying to blag a free pint at the expense of Chiltern Railways!! - the Forest were having none of it but Tone did get the receipt for his expenses!!.
Finally, arriving at the OR around 30 minutes later than planned, we met Steve and settled down to watch a few of the other footy matches whilst consuming more beer and discussing various topics including making sure your child did not grow up as a 'Chav' and Rog insisting his nipper would never be gay!!. We were also joined by Jo, Tone's missus. Around 9.00pm it was time for some of us to move on and the other light-weights (Phil and Rog (mind you light & weight in the same sentence is a bit doubtful in reference to Rog!!!)) to go home!!
The Reflex down Hurst Street was the decided next venue. Here the chaps & Jo set about drinking more ale and a bit of dancing was also undertaken. Whilst Ted decided it was time to outshine everyone on the dance floor, Chap and Tone held their own edition of the X-Factor ,Tone modelled his new range of designer handbag on the catwalk and Jo did a bit of pole dancing!!!. Around 11.30pm Simbers bailed for the last train home, Chap decided to escort a rather 'Twisted-Ted' of the premises (would have been a bit dangerous to have a wild bear loose on the streets of Brum!!!) leaving the others to party on down.
Last I heard was Steve and Dave headed for the Adam and Eve leaving Tone & Jo to their own devices.
