Simber's Birthday Session - 2nd April 2016

Plan for the day

A return to the Jewellery Quarter, the Colonel will advise of the route!!

Meet up at the Church from 5.30pm, Brown Lion from 7.00pm. (Next Corner down from Lord Cliffden heading into town).

Review

The Chaps, Chap, Tone, Steve, Ian and the Colonel himself assembled in the Church on Great Hampton Street, A new venue for the chaps and although it was quiet busy and the ale good, it's probably not high on the list of pubs for a return visit. That said however the ale was good with even Mr Hilas consuming  Everards tiger whist there. Due to 'cock-ups' on the communication front with the Colonel switching his day from the 9th April to the 2nd we were deprived visits from Dave and also Ted who were originally coming. Rog was probably still suffering form his headache. A few beers were drunk whilst discussing various topics including the impending golf weekend to Devon and Ashbury Manor. Ian is still on the doubtful list even with the promise of tyre swings and a good supply of bananas!!.

Next port of call was the Brown Lion. Originally the Two Towers brewery tap house this had changed hands but still had HPA on for a decent pint. We settled down and soon found out that Phil was not going to make the session due to illness (Rog's headache??) - he must have been bad. The Chaps did however save him a seat at the round table with birthday boy Simbers also displaying his 'Sid' t-shirt. Plenty of ale was had as well as some heated topics of conversation - the Euro In/Out referendum which was debated quite vociferously with Chap & Sim voting Out whilst the others where for staying in, food likes and dislikes and who would you like as the next Villa manager!!.

Final port of call and a change to the advertised agenda was the Drop Forge - a bit more civility than the Lord C. A couple of beers were had in here and we were also joined by Jo (Tone's taxi) and Josh to wrap up the evening. There was still time for some 'Ape antics' with Ian falling over spectacularly on his way back from the loo, god knows what he will be like if the Foxes wing the league.

Beers drunk, Tone got his lift, the dozers headed for the train leaving Chap and Steve to lob in a taxi.
