Meet in the Old Royal 6.00pm after the match
8.00pm - wherever the Beer Scooter takes us !!!!!!
Well the start of a new season. Certainly comes around quickly and for a change gives the Chaps some optimism for the coming months with Villa having a comfortable 2 - 0 win over Southampton at Villa Park. An impressive first half display capped with two goals from Vassell and Cole saw a convincing win over a poor Saints side whose only attribute was to be playing one of Nige's (Jellywise) distant relatives 'Jelle van Damme' an 'uncompromising left BAT from Ajax!!'.
Match over it was time for the Chaps' (Dave, Simbers & Chap) to depart for the Old Royal for a few celebratory beers. Here we were joined by Steve, Ted and Ian to quoth a few beers and discuss the days footballing events. We also started up a conversation with a couple of Saints fans, decent chaps who discussed the game and also there exploits in Portugal for the Euro 2004 championships. Nice to be able to hold a civilized conversation with supporters of four teams in the pub at one time (Villa, Saints, Leicester & Leeds). (Photo for Steve's friends in the Old Royal). Around 8.30pm it was time to move on the pastures new and introduce Ian to the delights of the Greebos (sorry Gallows).
At the Gallows we met up with Aimee, Maxine, Emma, Jane, Dave (Maxine's chap) & Aimee's new chap (whose name escapes me, as by the time we were formally introduced at the Adam later, my brain cells were happily immersed in a sea of Guinness!!!!). Ian was obviously intrigued by his first visit to Greebodom and did not instantly recognize any of the music being played, whilst Dave grew a mysterious head of ginger hair and Simbers did his best to blend in with the greebo crowd (ho-ho!!). After consuming plenty more ale (and watching the subtitled Crocodile Dundee 2!!!) closing time soon arrived. Ian & Simbers departed for the train station whilst Dave, Ted, Steve & Chap lobbed in a joey to the Adam and Eve, leaving Aimee & Co to head for that other palace of greebodom - Edwards.
Arriving at the Adam, more beers were swiftly ordered and then Aimee & friends appeared after a change of heart. There was some disappointment that the band had been cancelled but this was soon rectified by more beer and commandeering the juke-box & the dance floor, whilst in a quiet corner discussions of love, life & happiness were discussed. (About time you made an honest man of him Maxine!!!). Dave was hankering for a ruby as well as having a bit of a lomb in the corner, but we had missed Sharma's closing time, so around 2.00am Dave, Ted & Chap made the trek into town to find a curry shop - we eventually ended up in Shah's until 3.30am - not a bad curry even if a tad pricey. Mind you it seems a bloody long walk from the A & E back to town.
This ended the days happy proceedings (Steve got home around 4.00am from the A & E)
